At FIVE LITTLE MONKEYS PRESCHOOL, we work on a high scope based curriculum that is based around these key experiences: creative representation, language and literacy, initiative and social relations, movement, music, classification, serration, number, space, and time FIVE LITTLE MONKEYS PRESCHOOL takes pride in providing a healthy, caring, and intellectually stimulating environment for children age 2 through 5. DEVELOP YOUR CHILD AS A UNIQUE AND RESPECTABLE INDIVIDUALOur carefully developed program is based on the philosophy that children are individuals, Each child is encouraged to develop within his/her capacities, and to reach his/her potential. At the heart of this belief, our foremost goal is to help each child gain positive self-esteem, pride, and develop a balance of academic and social skills. We realize the importance of implementing our program through loving and talented teachers. Our teachers draw from experience and education, and they share our values. We know that children thrive on consistency, praise and encouragement.PARENTS AND TEACHERS WORKING TOGETHER AT FIVE LITTLE MONKEYS PRESCHOOL we value parents’ interest in their children's progress, and know that parents want regular evaluations of their child’s performance. To meet that need, twice a year we provide a developmental progress report. You will have an opportunity to review the report with the teacher so that you can direct your child’s growth and development with us as a team. If required, supplemental counseling sessions are available through appointment. PLEASE VISIT USYou are invited to visit our school at any time during operating hours and take part in the activities and class programs with your child. We believe that it is very important that both you and your child feel comfortable at all times with our school settings and teachers, as well as the other children and parents of our school.ADMISSION PROCEDURESFamilies who are interested in our school programs are strongly encouraged to visit and tour our facility with their children. During the tour, the family will have the opportunity to meet with our staff, see our school facilities, and observe our programs and activities. At the end of the tour, an enrollment packet which includes this information brochure and the required State forms will be provided for the family.If the family decides to enroll their child in our program, they will return the completed enrollment packet with the required enrollment fee. The enrollment fee is required to reserve an opening for the child. The enrollment fee is $80.00 per child. The enrollment fee is a one-time service charge that is non-refundable. An enrollment fee is required if a family discontinues the child’s enrollment and returns at a later time for re-admission. A waiting list will be maintained for each age group of children. Families who wish to reserve the next available opening may do so by placing their names on the waiting list, and pre-paying the enrollment fee. SCHOOL HOURSFIVE LITTLE MONKEYS PRESCHOOL is open from 6:30 am. until 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday Children attending full-day may be brought to school any time after 6:30 am. and picked up any time before 6:00 p.m. Children attending extended hours care may be brought to school between 8:30-9:00 and may be picked up any time before 3:00pm Children attending half-day may be brought to school between 8:30- 9:00. And picked up at any time before 12:30 p.m.. Children attending afternoon half day may be brought between 1:00-1:20 and picked up anytime before 4:30 TUITION PAYMENT POLICYTuition is due on the first day of each month, and is payable in monthly installment only. A late fee of $25.00 will be assessed if tuition is not paid by the 5th day of the month. If payment is not received by this date, your child will not be allowed to participate in the program starting the following day until the time your payment is received. There is a $25.00 returned check fee.DISCOUNT FOR SIBLINGSA 10% discount in tuition for each additional child from the same family.MEDICATION POLICIESIf your child needs to be given medication during school hours, we are required to have the following on hand;1. Directions for administering the medication. 2. Written permission and a Medication Release From signed by the parent/guardian. 3. A written prescription by the child's doctor. 4 The original bottle the prescription was filled in, dearly labeled with the child’s name arid medication information, The Medication Release Form must be signed by the parent/guardian and witnessed by the Director. All medication must be checked in with the Director before it can be administered, DO NOT give any medication directly to the teachers. We will not accept any over-the-counter medication; We will not administer any Aspirin or Tylenol. ACCIDENTAL INJURY ON SCHOOL GROUNDSSchool staff will handle ONLY minor cuts scrapes, and bruises that occur.If an injury warrants a doctor’s attention, the Director will first notify the parent/guardian. If we cannot reach you, we will call the child’s physician. If necessary, we will also call an ambulance. All accidents will have written reports, and copies will be available to the parents/guardians. DROPPING OFF AND PICKING UPAll children are required to be accompanied by a parent/guardian into the school building upon arrival, and accompanied out of the school building when they depart.All parents/guardians are required to sign their child in and out of school on our daily sign-in sheet. It is important to sign in and out so that we know which children are present in case of an emergency. Our sign-in sheet has a “Comment” section for you to note any special information we may need to know for that day (medication, who is picking up the child, special phone number for that day, etc.). WHAT TO WEARConsider your child’s comfort and provide clothing that is free of complicated fastenings. Think of the ‘messy” art supplies/materials and outdoor activities that your child will participate in, and provide clothing that is sturdy and appropriate. Please remember that the weather changes, and dress your child accordingly. Your child will enjoy exploring with art materials here and with sand and water in the yard remember the messier they are the more fun they had that dayYour child’s shoes should have “grip” soles. Never send your child to school in thongs. PLEASE LABEL ALL of clothing that your child might remove. It will help us to return the misplaced items to you. The school is not responsible for lost clothing. CHANGE OF CLOTHESA complete extra act of clothing LABELED with your child’s name, must be kept at school at school in case of an “accident,” and replaced after each use.BLANKETS AND SHEETSAll children 5 years old and under take an afternoon nap and will need a twin flat sheet and a blanket. Please be Sure to label all bedding. Please Do NOT send pillows.All bedding will go home on Fridays to be washed and returned the following Monday. TOYS FROM HOMEWe ask that you leave your child’s toys at home or in your car. If an item is brought to the school, we cannot be held responsible for it.Share Day is every Friday. DO NOT send toy guns, war toys, or any other toys of destruction. Instead send books, records, dolls, etc. Please do not send expensive toys. BIRTHDAYSWe celebrate birthdays during the afternoon snack period. You are welcome to bring a “special treat” for your child’s class on his/her birthday. We recommend cookies for this occasion. Your child’s teacher will add special stories and songs, to make this a special time for your child.SCHOOL HOLIDAYSFIVE LITTLE MONKEYS PRESCHOOL will be dosed on the following holidays: · President’s Day · Memorial Day · Independence Day · Labor Day · Columbus Day · Thanksgiving Day and the day after · Winter Break Dec 24-Jan 1stWe will be celebrating these holidays at the school December all of the month will be focused on winter holidays The week of December 22-26th will be holiday’s week where we will focus on Hanukkah / Christmas/ kwanza (Which will be celebrated on a very broad scale) and any other holidays that are celebrated within our school families. Please let me know if there are any that you would like to share with your school. January will be celebrated with a New Year curriculum on the 30th & 2ed February will be celebrated with a valentine’s party (we will not be exchanging valentines) March St. Patrick’s day will be celebrated by shamrocks and talk of what being lucky is? We will not be doing leprechauns because if the children not being able to physically see them April Easter will be celebrated with the art projects mostly focusing on spring and eggs and how eggs develop into other things. October will be focused on Autumn and harvest we will be having a Halloween party We will not be dressing up at school or having any candy exchange. November will be celebrating giving thanks for what we have and Fall Please let me know if there is anything that your family celebrates that you would like to share at our school. We have made these decisions as part of our anti- biased curriculum and have done so and we can include everyone.
